Mr. Giuseppe Piantoni founds Co.r.a.m. (acronyms of “Costruzioni Ricambi Auto Moto”), as a company which manufactures valves for combustion engines.
1960
The production moves to a new building with 1000 m² of covered area, in via Chiari 36, Cologne (BS).
1965
The production reaches high level of automation, with 50 employees. Begin of the first relationship abroad.
1966
Giuseppe Piantoni acquires Cirani, a factory which works metallic carpentry, located in Castrezzato (BS - Italy).
1970
Cirani is transformed in CMC and is moved to Cologne, in a new building of 3000 m² of covered area.
1975
The production of valve guide grows and the covered areas reaches 7000 m². Coram gains the activities of CMC and becomes S.p.A..
1980
Coram manufactures his first hydraulic jack thus starting its first design and marketing activities of a final product. The number of employees reaches 180.
1985
Carpentry activities is growing so Coram decides to give up producing valves.
1987
Welding robots and automatic machines are installed at Coram, so this changes the traditional way of working. Coram starts the production of steering columns.
1990
Coram puts efforts to grow on the steering column business and it supplies important truck constructors.
1993
Coram is certified UNI EN ISO 9001 by Det Norske Veritas.
1996
Coram takes over a part of the TRW France group which manufactures gearbox levers for industrial and agricultural vehicles.
1997
Coram inaugurates a new R&D department which can boast 3D design capabilities. Thanks to this software, Coram designes the first hydraulic jack with components made of aluminium alloy and plastics.
1998
Coram inaugurates a modern plant in Cologne, via Creta, to produce front axles for two-wheel drive tractors.
1999
Coram becomes the European leader in the production of Hydraulic jacks, regards to the number of units manufactured.
2000
Coram acquires Stilfreni, Stilmec Sud and Eti thus in order to wide its product range which includes special brakes and light transmissions.
2001
Coram inaugurates the new Technical and Commercial headquarters in Brescia. The first step towards an integrated management of the Coram Group.
2002
Coram Group inaugurates a new plant in Cologne, via Aldo Moro. Here are relized the following activities: cutting and bending of tubes, blanking and laser cutting of plates. The production site of Stilfreni is moved from Viano (RE) to Coccaglio (BS - Italy).
2003
Coram gives up the production of front axle for two wheel driven tractors while it extends the production of steering columns and brakes.
2004
Mr. Angelo Piantoni takes over his father Giuseppe Piantoni, the founder, as C.E.O. of the Group. The organization of the group is renewed through the merge of Stilfreni Ltd in E.T.I Ltd
2005
The Technical and Commercial headquarters comes back to Cologne, after the rebuilding of the offices. Coram Group acquires an important part of Burnsville Sale Manufacturing Ltd It is a company specialized in steering column and it manufacturs for American customer. It is located in Minnesota (North America). Thanks to this partial acquisition, BSM/Coram North America is founded as part of Coram Group.
2006
Coram Group founds Coram Asia Co. Ltd. in Taichung City (Taiwan), so it gains cost advantages in the production of the hydraulic jacks and it makes business in the growing Chinese market.
2007
Coram Spa invests consistently in machineries and reinforce its own organization with new persons to support the forecasted grow of the following 3 years. The Painting Dept. and the Phosphating Treatmens are moved outside, to lave more space to the warehouse and the new office building. Coram Asia move from the original plant to a new and larger plant in Nantou City.
2008
Coram Spa opens the new office building, that allows to move the Engineering Department in the Headquarter site (previously located in the Plant 1) and it provides more space for the other offices and services.
2009
Coram Group goes through the most serious international crisis of its history with great sacrifices and determination. Cuts to the expences, reduction of inventories, internal down-sizing, agreements with banks and suppliers, allow to the companies of the Group to pass over this negative period, limiting the demages.
2010
Coram Group increases its sales recovering much of the turnover decrease caused by the crisis of the past year, consolidating its new strutture, oriented to the efficiency and to the improvement of the services. Some activities no more strategic for the Group have been dismissed.
2011
In 2011 Coram continues the manufacturing activity aimed at improving the efficiency and prompt service to the customers. The new product development activities are consolidated and in the second half of the year it has been started the initial consistent production, allowing the company to substantially increase its market share of Steering Columns.
In strong recovery also the activities of Coram Asia and BSM/Coram North America.
